Tips for skiers
- Focus on higher elevations, especially above 2000 m, where snow depths are more significant and freezing levels are consistently below the peaks.
- Be aware that early-season snow can be thin, and rocks or other obstacles may be hidden beneath the fresh cover.
- Check local resort information for specific lift openings and conditions, as our report focuses on snow depth and forecast.
- Consider resorts in the southern French and Italian Alps, such as Isola 2000 and Artesina, for the best recent snowfall.
- Always consult the official avalanche bulletin if you plan to go off-piste, as early season conditions can be unpredictable.
About these numbers
Resort snow depths are the deepest snow on the resort's upper slopes from the SnowScope snow model (about 1 km, run of 5 November); they are estimates for an area, not a measurement at one point. Station values are measurements on the date shown. Forecasts can change. Always read the official avalanche bulletin before going off-piste.
