SnowScope terms of use
Version 1.0 — 29 October 2026. Publisher: Atlas Labs. Contact: atlaslabsdaba@gmail.com.
By installing or using SnowScope (the "app") you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
1. What SnowScope is
SnowScope shows snow maps and forecasts, a powder score, piste and resort information, official avalanche danger levels copied from the national services, summit information (Summit AI: summits in sight, climb times, difficulty, routes), community snow reports, a trip planner and hotel links. The app is an information tool for adults (18+).
2. Mountain safety — read this
- Everything in the app is an estimate. Snow depths, new snow, powder scores, piste quality, snow lines and 3D views are computed from forecasts, terrain and satellite data; they are not measurements and can be wrong by a lot.
- Summit AI climb times, distances, difficulties and routes are computed from public terrain and trail data for a fit, experienced walker or ski tourer in good conditions. They do not account for your fitness, your equipment, the weather, the snow, avalanche danger, closed trails, glaciers, rockfall or darkness. "No marked trail" means we have no trail data — it never means the summit is safe or reachable. A route line is never a recommendation.
- Avalanche danger levels are shown exactly as published by the official services, with a link to their bulletin. Levels can be missing, outdated or wrong in the app; always read the full official bulletin before going into terrain where avalanches are possible.
- SnowScope never replaces the official avalanche bulletin, the mountain weather forecast, a mountain guide, local advice, your own training or your own judgement. Going into the mountains is dangerous and is your own decision and responsibility. Do not use the app while skiing, driving or moving in exposed terrain.
3. Accounts
An account (e-mail + password) is optional. You must give a real e-mail address and keep your password secret; you are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete it at any time in the app or at https://wassim1313.github.io/snowscope/delete/. We may close accounts that break these terms.
4. Community content (snow reports, photos, names, challenge entries)
- You publish snow reports only if you choose to. You must own the photos you publish and keep faces, licence plates and private property out of them. No offensive, misleading or commercial content.
- By publishing, you give Atlas Labs a non-exclusive, worldwide, free licence to show the content in the app, on the SnowScope website and in SnowScope share cards and social posts, with your display name if you gave one, for as long as you keep the content published. You can delete each report at any time; this ends the licence except for copies already shared by other users.
- Other users can flag content; we may hide or delete content and block installs or accounts that abuse the feature. Abuse reports are handled at atlaslabsdaba@gmail.com.
5. Snow Challenge
The Snow Challenge is a free season contest with its own rules at https://wassim1313.github.io/snowscope/challenge/ (entry period, prize, verification of referred installs, tie-break, 18+, void where prohibited). Entering is optional and never requires a purchase. Instagram/Meta are not sponsors of the challenge.
6. Free version, ads, Pro and purchases
- The free version is supported by ads (Google AdMob). A one-time "Remove ads" purchase removes them.
- SnowScope Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription sold through Google Play, which renews automatically until you cancel it in Google Play → Subscriptions. Prices are shown in Google Play before you buy; Google Play's refund rules apply. Pro features are described in the app; we may change or discontinue features with notice in the app.
- Referral discounts and creator codes are promotional offers that we can change or end at any time.
- Hotel links open third-party sites; bookings are contracts between you and that site. We may earn a commission.
7. Your use of the app
Personal, non-commercial use only. Do not copy, scrape, resell or redistribute the app's data, maps, images or texts, do not reverse-engineer the app or overload our servers, and do not use the app to break any law. Share cards, clips and photos you create with the app are yours to share; the SnowScope name and logo stay ours.
8. Availability and liability
The app and its data are provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that the app works at all times, that forecasts, maps, summit data, avalanche levels or routes are correct, complete or up to date, or that the app is free of errors. To the extent permitted by law, Atlas Labs is not liable for any damage, injury or loss resulting from the use of the app or from decisions you take on the basis of its information, including in the mountains. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example for intent or gross negligence, or consumer rights that apply in your country).
9. Privacy
How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy: https://wassim1313.github.io/snowscope/privacy/
10. Changes and contact
We may change these terms; the new version is published on this page with its date and, for important changes, in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the law of the publisher's country of residence, without affecting mandatory consumer rights where you live. Contact: atlaslabsdaba@gmail.com.
